SurveyStar LDP Companion

SurveyStar LDP Companion (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a tool for designing and evaluating Low Distortion Projections (LDPs) for surveying and GIS. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

Summary

  • The app works fully offline. It does not require an account or sign-in.
  • We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
  • All the data you enter stays on your device.
  • The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.

Information stored on your device

The app stores the following locally, in its private application storage, so your work is available the next time you open it:

  • LDP definitions you create (projection type, ellipsoid, parameters, names, and descriptions).
  • Reference data bundled with the app (e.g. the OCRS reference zones).
  • Your app settings and preferences (units, decimals, angle input mode, theme, colours, and similar).

This data is not sent anywhere. It remains on your device unless you delete it, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.

Files you import and export

  • When you import a CSV of test points, the file is read only to load those points into the app. The file itself is not uploaded or retained by us.
  • When you export a report (PDF, Excel, TXT, or Markdown), the file is created on your device and offered to Android’s share sheet. What happens next — for example, if you choose to email it or upload it to a cloud service — is handled by the app you share to and by that service’s own privacy policy, not by us.

Permissions

The app requests only the access needed to open and save files for import and export. It does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.

Children’s privacy

The app is a professional utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date shown at the top of this page.
